About DC TheoryThis course provides a practical, hands-on, systematic approach to the study and application of DC Theory. One of the primary needs of all electrical workers is an understanding of the basic operations of electric circuits. Many, such as workers wishing to upgrade their specific skills, or others who may be entering the Industry through some means other than apprenticeship, want to not only install the work assigned to the electrical worker, but to understand the how and why of that work; in order to be more productive part of the industry that supplies them with a living. The material in this course, in addition to being the basic building block of electricity theory, is also a prerequisite to more advanced courses which are available for the individual wishing to advance his or her knowledge even farther. It is necessary that students have a good background in basic math and algebra. If your math skills are not sufficient to allow you to complete this course, NJATC offers a Tech Math course that can help you get up to speed in this area. The course has been divided into twenty-four assessment sessions, each providing an essential building block by which the student can progress to the next step. While many of the mathematical concepts can be calculated and performed manually, it is suggested that a calculator be used to save time and further increase the accuracy of those calculations. |
